Audition Requirements

Members of Equity and ACTRA please note that as FRC produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, we will not pay any professional association fees, such as the fees stipulated by Equity's Amateur Guest Artist policy, under any circumstances whatsoever.

Please be prepared with the following:

- Perform a musical theatre song (2 min cut). Sondheim or similar style preferred (but not mandatory). We request that you don’t sing a song from Sweeney Todd. Please be aware that we might cut you off, and you might be asked to take direction on your song.
- No monologue required.

Auditioners should upload their backing track to the website when submitting their audition wherever possible. No acapella auditions accepted, and no accompanist will be available.

NOTE: Understudies will be cast, and we are considering double casting certain roles (to be determined at the time of casting).

About the Show

Innocence twists into vengeance on the cobblestone streets of 19th century London. Come along on a sophisticated, macabre, and uncompromising tale as Benjamin Barker, a barber, becomes Sweeney Todd, the demon butcher, and his landlady, the local pie proprietress, goes from making The Worst Pies in London to creating a culinary crime described only as God that's Good. This barbarous ode to vengeance accomplishes the rare task of offering intense drama, darkly side-splitting humour and a ripping musical score.

Rehearsals

First readthrough will be SUNDAY DECEMBER 15 1-5 PM.

Rehearsals will then be held on Tuesday/Thursday evenings 7-10 PM and Sunday afternoons 1-5 PM starting SUNDAY JANUARY 12.

PLEASE NOTE: For the week prior to opening (i.e. beginning Sunday May 11th), please expect a rehearsal or other activity on each day.

Run Dates

May 16th - 31st 2025, Victor Mitchell Theatre - Pumphouse Theatres
