Audition Requirements

Members of Equity and ACTRA please note that as FRC produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, we will not pay any professional association fees, such as the fees stipulated by Equity's Amateur Guest Artist policy, under any circumstances whatsoever.

We are accepting video submissions only.
All materials must be submitted via Google Form.

Submission Deadline:
Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at 11:59 PM

— All song selections must be from productions that could reasonably be considered for FRC's next season. This means the show must not have been produced by Front Row Centre within the past ten (10) years, nor by another local Calgary theatre company within the past five (5) years. The rights for the show must also be available.

— While not required, performers are encouraged to consider bold or unexpected material they may not traditionally be cast in, including gender-swapped selections, age-bending roles, or other creative casting choices.

— We strongly encourage submissions including duets, trios, and group numbers, as this allows us to feature more performers throughout the evening.

— No acapella submissions will be accepted.

Solo performer submissions:
— Two (2) contrasting song selections from musical theatre repertoire.
— Minimum thirty-two (32) bars of each selection.

Group number submissions:
— Minimum thirty-two (32) bars selection of one (1) song from musical theatre repertoire.
— If submitting a number that includes multiple performers, the video must feature all participants performing together.
If you wish to submit solo material as well as duet or group material, please complete a separate submission form for each configuration.

Accompaniment:
The gala will be accompanied by a pianist.
— Sheet music must be provided by the performer.
— All cuts will have to be clearly marked.
— If you have sheet music readily available, please submit it as part of your audition. If not, please note you will need to have it, if cast in the show, by March 24th at the latest.

If requesting additional instrumentation or special technical requirements, please indicate this in your submission. Availability may be limited.
